Galway Together For Yes - Formerly the Galway Coalition to Repeal the Eighth.


Newly founded ‘Galway Coalition to Repeal’ to launch their campaign on February 7th.

The Galway Coalition to Repeal the Eighth Amendment is a coalition of organisation from Galway city and county that aim to work towards the repeal of the 8th amendment. It was founded last month and is modeled after the National Coalition to Repeal the 8th Amendment. With 20+ organisations already represented, and still growing, the group aim to build a collaborative campaign for Repeal in Galway.

Their public launch will take place in the Harbour Hotel from 7.30pm, Wednesday February 7th. Speakers on the night include Parents for Choice representative Jenni Owen-Thomas, National Coalition convener Ailbhe Smyth, and Midwives for Choice rep Philomena Canning, with more to be confirmed.

“We’re delighted to be publically launching our campaign, and to bring together activists across Galway’s best organisations to work together on seeing the 8th amendment repealed” states Galway Coalition co-convener Sharon Nolan. “Collaboration and compassion is at the heart of our campaign, and we look forward to growing our team even further”

“Everyone is welcome - be it pro-choice individuals, those who want to support, those who want to see the 8th removed, and representatives of both member or prospective organisations are all invited” continues Nolan. “We aim to host an informative night on how to get involved with our campaign”
